According to Census 2000, the nearly 26,000 same-sex couples in New York City are, in many ways, similar to married couples. They live throughout every borough, with 62% living outside of Manhattan. They are racially and ethnically diverse, have partners who depend upon one another financially, and actively participate in the city and state economy. [Link]
