Evan Wolfson said he was optimistic about the Obama proposal and hopeful that it would be pushed as a package that includes the repeal of DOMA. Like Frank, Pizer and Anders, Wolfson said it would be a mistake to push for a marriage rights bill that doesn’t include same-sex couples that are actually married. "Let’s not begin by fighting amongst ourselves,” he said. “Let’s begin by asking for what we deserve." [Link]

Evan, are you planning on asking for equal conception rights? Do you feel same-sex couples deserve the right to attempt to conceive children together, right now? It's still so unsafe even in animals, and we haven't really considered the implications of allowing same-sex couples to attempt to conceive together, which are very far reaching.
I think that by accepting that same-sex couples do not deserve conception rights, at least right now, while it is unsafe, we could negotiate everything that Obama has promised. It would indeed have to mean that same-sex marriages be changed to CU's that are defined as marriage without conception rights, so that marriage can continue to give the couple an immediate and unconditional right to attempt to conceive children.
I think with that concession, we could have full federal recognition for CU's, a repeal of DOMA, and get rid of discriminatory constitutional amendments in just a matter of weeks.
