Fittingly, she's the most successful fundraiser in public television. Also fittingly, her support for marriage equality is financial in nature. In a 2007 interview with the New York Times Magazine, she said that she would want to marry her partner, because,

"It's killing me that we both have millions of dollars in our name. It’s killing me that upon my death, K.T. is going to lose 50 percent of everything I have to estate taxes. Or vice versa."
