The Prop. 8 campaign team avoided the issue of whether practicing homosexuality is immoral, and implied that gay couples deserved the same rights as heterosexual couples -- just not through marriage. Prop. 8 backer John Eastman, dean of the Chapman Law School, says that because of that strategy, the campaign's argument against marriage equality lacks durability and could eventually break down among the coalition of voters that supported the measure.
