Marriage is a Religious Belief-- a Fundamental Right
Today the judges seemed to think that because California has domestic
partnership laws that prop 8 doesn't violate any fundamental rights.
I know gay religious folk who believe marriage is a religious duty.
To discriminate by relegating some relationships to the term
"partnership" isn't the same as marriage and violates their first
amendment right showing preference to some beliefs over others.
The state shouldn't favor the marriage belief some over that of minority beliefs.
Besides allowing gay people to marry the only other fair thing to do is not recognize any couples marriage.
I think in order to win this fight, we may to have to argue for
religious rights and for separation of church and state.
Just my two cents.
