Voice for Equality: Jane Lynch

Jane Lynch is an out American writer, actress, comedian, and singer best known for her roles in Christopher Guest comedies such as Best in Show and Judd Apatow comedies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Lynch's extensive theater background involved touring with The Second City comedy troupe and playing Carol Brady in The Real Live Brady Bunch. She also wrote and starred in the award-winning play Oh Sister, My Sister. Other film and television credits include: A Mighty Wind, For Your Consideration, Talladega Nights, Walk Hard, and Julie and Julia. She is currently starring in the Fox television comedy, Glee, about which Mary McNamara of the LA Times wrote, "Lynch alone makes Glee worth watching." Learn more here.

Continuing a long history of marriage equality advocacy, in April of 2009, Jane Lynch participated in the Gaythering Storm video that spoofed the over-the-top NOM video, Gathering Storm, which preached against marriage equality using over-the-top fear tactics and falsehoods. Ms. Lynch's character offered an answer to the gay marriage issue: "a giant gay-repellent umbrella that [would] shield god-fearing Americans from the [gay] storm." On October 12, 2009, she participated in the Human Rights Campaign 13th Annual National Dinner in Washington, DC, introducing fellow Glee cast members and speaking out for living openly and honestly:
