On October 23, the Prime Minister of Portugal stated that legalizing the freedom to marry will be one of the new leadership’s first changes. Portuguese lawmakers from all parties are in favor of the move, leading to the belief the bill will pass with ease and make Portugal the ninth country to legalize marriage equality along with the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Norway, Sweden and Nepal.
